We are all familiar with the ways that Donald Trump uses digital media to communicate, from the ridiculous to the terrifying. WIAS and tripleC: Communication, Capitalism & Critique invite you to create a meme, cartoon or image that somehow relates to Trump and Twitter. The prize? Three winners will each receive a copy of Christian Fuchs’s new book, “Digital Demagogue: Authoritarian Capitalism in the Age of Trump and Twitter” (also in German translation), which will be launched on 1 March 2018 (tickets available).

The book digs deep into the use of digital tools in politics, showing how they have facilitated the rise of authoritarianism, nationalism, and right-wing ideologies around the world.

Only new memes, cartoons and images that you create yourself are eligible to be submitted, ones that already circulate on the Internet will be deemed illegitimate submissions. All memes and images will be posted on wias.ac.uk. The three winning memes will be disseminated more widely. To participate, send your response to d.hansen@westminster.ac.uk in a web-image format (best jpg) of sufficient quality (at least 300 dpi). The submission deadline is Wednesday, February 23.
